The more planning done before production makes the production process run a lot smoother due to the fact that an unexpected turn of events can result in deadlines not being met or more money being put towards the project. This is why it is useful to follow a 'production schedule', a document that acts as an overall view of the production process including the tasks, resources and timescales, when managing a media product of any kind.

strengths - it is a good overview of the production as a whole for it takes you from the pre-production process all the way to the post production. It is very condensed and useful for all members of the production team to have to hand for It allows specific departments to know what their timeframe is to complete tasks as well as what is going on in the production before, after and simultaneously, so that everyone is on the same page.

weaknesses - it may lack detail in the sense that it is a vague overview of the project as a whole instead of focusing on specific tasks. This may leave certain departments in the dark about what they have to be doing at a specific time or what tasks are allocated to what people.

opportunities - allows certain departments to see that is going on elsewhere in the production, either before, after or at the same time as when they are working which could help with communication across departments to make for a more collaborative process.

threats - the lack of specific detail might put bigger production teams from using this kind of schedule in favour for one that is more detailed.
