The ways that media products can be distributed are broadening due to ever developing technology and the rise of Web 2.0, creating more ways that we can consume our favourite media products. Here are some alternative ways that these products can be accessed by their audience aside from the traditional methods of distribution.
Electric Dreams
Electric Dreams is a 10 part sci-fi television series developed by Channel 4 and Amazon. It was able to be viewed traditional on Channel 4 and on Channel 4s catch up services,, such as the All 4 website, but because of the partnership with Amazon, it will also be able to be viewed on Amazon Prime Video at a later date. It is also available on the Canadian service 'Space'.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show
As well as listening traditionally on BBC Radio Two, both of FM and digital radio, The Chris Evans Breakfast Show can also be listened to live online on BBC iplayer, through non specific radio devices, such as your phone, computer and tablet on the iplayer website or the BBC Radio mobile App. You can also listen previous episodes on iplayer and the app too.
Good Housekeeping
Good housekeeping is a magazine were its readers can now subscribe to a digital copy of the original printed one and view it on their mobile, tablet or computer, through specific magazine apps, instead of receiving a physical copy though the mail or buying one in a shop. There is also a digital download through their own website.
Baby Driver
Baby Driver, as well as being able to be watched in cinema and being released on optical media that can be purchased in store, such as DVD and Blu Ray, digital versions can also be purchased online on sites such as Amazon, youtube and iTunes and it is to be released on streaming services, such as Netflix. It is also available through Sky Store and Virgin Movies, to rent the movies.
Starwars Battlefront 2
The video game will be released on optical media for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and sold in stores worldwide, but also available for digital downloads on services such as Steam for PC downloads and the PS store for Playstation downloads. We can also get it on EA origin.
Traditionally, the social media site was made to be viewed on PC and Laptops only, but now there are many platforms that can display the site. There is a Facebook app so that we can use it anywhere on our smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and games consoles.
