Sectors, Companies and Products

There are six main media sectors: Film, TV and Radio, Video Games, Print and Publishing, Music and Web and Online Technology. Here are some media companies in each media sector and the products/brands that they are most well known for.

FILM

An example of a film company is 'Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.', most well known for their film franchises, such as the 'Harry Potter' film series and 'The Hobbit' trilogy.

TV and RADIO

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the world's oldest broadcasting media company, it's most popular platform being BBC One, known for TV shows such as 'The Great British Bake Off', 'Doctor Who' and 'Sherlock', some of which are polular worldwide and distributed via other networks, such as BBC America.

VIDEO GAMES

Nintendo is one of the biggest video game companies in the world, known for creating some of the best selling video game franchises ever, including titles such as 'Pokemon', 'The Legend of Zelda' and 'Mario'.

PRINT and PUBLISHING

Penguin Books is a British publishing company, known for bringing high-quality paperback publishing to the mass market in the UK. Some of their most popular titles include their series of 'Ladybird' books aimed at children.

MUSIC

Warner Music Group owns and operates many major record labels, including the American record label 'Warner Bros. Records'. Popular artists who are currently signed to Warner Bros. Records include Gorillaz, Regina Spektor, Muse and My Chemical Romance.

WEB and ONLINE TECHNOLOGY

A example of a web and online technology company is Amazon, largest Internet-based retailer in the world, with other services such as Amazon prime and Kindle. They also own many other subsidiaries, such as audible and Twitch.
